E9 Alumni Carter Amico and Teddy Mutryn Drafted into the NHL
Two standout players from the USA Hockey National Team Development Program (NTDP) and Elite 9 (E9) alumni—Carter Amico and Teddy Mutryn—took a major step in their hockey journeys by being selected in the NHL Draft this past week.
A native of Westbrook, Maine, Carter Amico began his youth hockey career with Casco Bay before continuing to shine at Mount Saint Charles Academy. His strong play and dedication earned him a spot with the NTDP, the top amateur development program in the country, where he competed in both his U17 and U18 seasons—an honor reserved for the nation’s elite.
Amico's versatility and hockey sense have made him a standout on the national stage. His hard work culminated in being selected by the Philadelphia Flyers in the 2025 NHL Draft. Looking ahead, Amico is committed to play Division I hockey for Boston University beginning in the 2025–26 season.
Hailing from Norwell, Massachusetts, Teddy Mutryn grew up playing for the Boston Advantage, where he quickly developed into a skilled and intelligent forward. He went on to star for St. Sebastian’s School, posting an impressive 55 points in 51 games over two seasons.
Mutryn’s standout performance earned him a place on the NTDP, where he continued to impress with his complete 200-foot game. He also played in the USHL with the Chicago Steel, the premier Tier I junior league in the U.S. There, he tallied 17 goals, the second-highest total on the team, further boosting his NHL draft stock.
His continued success was rewarded when he was drafted by the San Jose Sharks. Mutryn is committed to join the Boston College Eagles for the 2026–27 season.
With Amico and Mutryn joining the ranks of NHL draftees, the Elite 9 Hockey League continues to solidify its reputation as the premier development pipeline of New England Youth Hockey. They follow in the footsteps of notable E9 alumni, including NHL stars Chris Kreider, Jimmy Vesey, Michael Kesselring, and Ryan Donato, as well as emerging talents like Alex Steeves and Ryan Leonard.
Their achievements highlight the strength, depth, and future of hockey talent emerging from the Elite 9.
