E9 GIRLS: Alex Carpenter Continues to Shine in the PWHL

Alex Carpenter, the Valley Jr. Warriors alumni, is proving that she’s far from slowing down in the Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL). In the season opener for her team, the Sirens, Carpenter delivered an unforgettable performance, scoring two goals, including the overtime winner, to lead her team to a thrilling 4-3 road victory against the Minnesota Frost. Her stellar play also included a career-high three points in a single game, marking a strong start to what promises to be another standout season.

As an alternate captain, Carpenter showcased her leadership, contributing a primary assist on Jessie Eldridge’s power play goal to get the Sirens on the board. The performance mirrored Carpenter’s breakout success during her inaugural PWHL season, where she tied for the league lead with 10 power play points and scored two overtime goals.

The 30-year-old forward from North Reading, Massachusetts, has been a force in the PWHL since its inception. Last season, Carpenter tied for second overall in the league with 23 points (8G, 15A) in 24 games and earned First Team All-Star honors. She was also a finalist for Forward of the Year and the Billie Jean King MVP Award, solidifying her status as one of the league's top players.

Beyond her impressive PWHL career, Carpenter has made significant contributions on the international stage. She helped lead Team USA to a Gold medal at the World Championship and was part of the U.S. Women’s Hockey team that earned a silver medal at the 2022 Beijing Olympics. Carpenter has also played professionally in the NWHL, CWHL, and even in Russia, accumulating a wealth of experience on the global stage.

Carpenter’s hockey journey began with the Valley Jr. Warriors, where she played three full seasons from 2006 to 2009, rising from Peewee Major to Bantam Major. Her early years with the Warriors helped lay the foundation for a career filled with accolades and success, including Olympic medals and World Championship titles. An alumna of Boston College, Carpenter has earned numerous professional and international honors throughout her career.

With her continued excellence on the ice, Alex Carpenter is a player to watch as she looks to make a lasting impact in the PWHL once again this season.
