Congratulations to Boston College Freshman and Springfield Jr. Thunderbirds Alumni, Ryan Leonard, who has been named the Hockey East Co-Player of the Week. The 8th overall pick in the NHL draft has already put up some impressive numbers with 16 points recorded through the first 14 games of the season.
Leonard scored four goals over the weekend, including the first two multi-goal performances of his NCAA career. He wrapped up the strong weekend with seven shots on goal and a plus-2 rating. Leonard also extended his point streak to eight games, during which he has scored eight times. The Amherst, Massachusetts native ranks fourth in Hockey East in goals per game with nine tallies, all coming in his last 10 contests.
Leonard's Boston College team returned to No. 1 in the country in both the USCHO.com Poll and the USA Hockey / The Rink Live Poll after beating No. 18 Notre Dame 6-1 and No. 20 Harvard 4-1 over Thanksgiving weekend.
